Today is a special day, as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and all his achievements. A man best known for advancing civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience. A man who ultimately lost his life for the betterment of others. It was important that I started ‘this’ particular day with significant purpose. Giving of my time and serving in a capacity that supported an entire community was fulfilling and really touched my heart. I served amongst educators, parents and common staff to complete a beautification initiative for a local elementary school. When I tell you the end result of so many selfless individuals was astounding! The areas of beautification included repainting the face of the school, reapplying paint to the parking lot/blockades and replacing the landscape with bushes and plants. As I stood back and assessed the property, I can assure you it was no longer the same school. These acts of kindness remind me how important a collective of people can make a difference. It reminds me that it is about ‘we’ and not I. As long as I live, I will continue to impact others and pave my own way to making a difference in this world. How did you spend your time today? Stay blessed and intentional. “We must all learn to live together as brothers, or we will all perish together as fools.” —Martin Luther King Jr. By Brandee Nicole | Celebrity Blogger
